It’s officially jacket season

Over the past year or so I worked on increasing my jacket collection! A good jacket can complete a dull outfit or compliment a well styled one. I tend to also use a jacket just before it’s time to dust off the winter coat; that transitional time between the end of summer and beginning of autumn where you can’t quite leave the house without an extra layer.

Jackets are there to serve a functional purpose this does not mean they have to be only practical and boring! No No No… I hope from the selection I have pulled together in this blog you will see EXACTLY what I mean. What the high street currently has on offer is a true reflection of what the Designers were showing at LFW. Although there are a few designer versions I still have my eye on, the high street have managed to produce some similar versions but most of the jackets I have spotted are really desirable in their own right!

This oversized denim jacket is by APC and I love the way it was styled on the catwalk – here we have 2 trends in one, ‘oversized’ and ‘get waisted’. For someone like me who is an hour glass figure, emphasising the waist is imperative so, instead of missing out on a trend I can wear both but in a way that suits my body shape.

The colours this season are by no means dull as demonstrated by Miu Miu on the catwalk! If there is one thing you won’t miss whilst out shopping is the sheer amount of colour for AW17. I love it – instead of going for another black, grey or navy jacket why not try something different and go for a pop of colour! Yes it happens to be a ‘trend’ BUT if you choose a colour which actually suits you, you will always be able to wear it!

Puffer jackets will never go out of fashion, period! I remember wearing them as a young girl and still do to this day. I bought one about 3 years ago for the ‘school run’ which is still going strong! The Zara puffa’s do very well each year and seem to be the high street version ‘go to’. But this season sees the introduction of the quilted jacket which I think is a softer alternative to the puffer. You get the same padded and protected feel from the elements without feeling like a puffed up chicken. As seen at Stella McCartney, the quilted jacket can be oversized or fitted, long or short and worn casual or styled up!

Being a Stylist means I am always in the shops or researching what’s new – I can’t help but notice all the jackets in stores now! So I have put together a selection jackets which I think will see you through this transitional ‘not quite hot not quite cold’ time leading up to winter. The point of the jacket isn’t supposed to be that of a coat so remember whether you choose an on-trend piece or something a little more classic it should suit your body shape, style and be complimentary to what you already have in your wardrobe.

These are my stylist picks and some of the best of what’s out there! These are all available in stores NOW so don’t wait too long to purchase yours! Comment below with which are your favourites and why and also whether you purchase any Happy Jacket shopping.
